Fashion Focus: Introducing C.P.Company
We’ve seen the launch of several new brands this season at Repertoire, and one of these is the Italian label, C.P. Company. Founded in Italy in 1975 (under the original name of Sportswear Company/Chester Perry), the aim was to bring traditional clothing elements back into the modern man’s wardrobe. With the brand established, the late seventies saw the introcution of secondary lines such as Stone Island and Boneville. With a solid following, all three of these brands have continued to grow and are all successful today.
The spring summer collection by C.P. Company is full of their iconic interesting branding; coats with watch pieces on the sleeve, jackets with goggles attached to the hood and individually dyed garments. Not afraid to experiment with fabrics, weaves and colouring processes, the brand is all about expressing individuality. They take inspiration from vintage military and work uniforms, and create modern, practical, fashionable clothes; they have been said to be ‘revolutionising urban city wear.’ And that’s no surprise, with technical properties such as large pockets and heavy durable materials; C.P. Company says ‘Function and use have become a symbol of individuality, style and as always, functionality’. It’s no surprise they are becoming one of the most popular urban designers.
Celebrity fans include Oasis guitarist, Noel Gallagher, who once said his favourite thing to wear was his C.P. Company jacket (or anything from Stone Island that fitted him) and Welsh comedian Griff Rhys Jones.
